There is excellent volume and mid-palate density to the solidly powerful and sappy medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a bone-dry, long and balanced finale. The supple and surprisingly easy-going middle weight flavors do eventually firm up on the otherwise dusty and balanced finale that needs to develop better depth. The sappy and palate soaking larger-bodied flavors are at once powerful yet reasonably refined, to say nothing of the ample minerality that adds a sense of lift to the compact, youthfully austere and even firmer finale. This is a ‘buy and forget you own it’ Mazis.” – 92 – 95 pts – Burghound

“A brooding and somewhat grumpy nose requires aggressive swirling to eventually coax ripe aromas of plum and various dark berries and not much else at present. There is excellent density, and particularly so for the vintage, to the larger-bodied and powerful flavors that conclude in a firm, robust and compact finale. This is impressive though I underscore that it’s old school in style and not a wine that’s going to play well in the sandbox before it has at least a decade under its belt.” – 93-95 pts – Burghound
