Producer Profile – The Story

RAISON D’ETRE – Bonnezeaux (iconic dessert wine made from Chenin Blanc), Anjou Blanc + Rouge

HISTORIC ESTATE – Dating back to 1070 however records of producing wine are found in the 1870’s when purchased by the Boivin family.

LA CHAPELLE – Occupying the highest part of the appellation with the perfect exposition, south/south west located next to the Layon river creating the magically arena for the onset of Botrytis each year. Felses own 25 hectares of a total 100 designated by the INAO for the production of Bonnezeaux, of which they use approximately 16 for their dry Chenin Blanc.

HAND CRAFTED -The production of Bonnezeaux, like all great sweet wines takes patience and courage, with harvesting taking place berry by berry by multiple passes through the vineyard.
