Champagne Sadi Malot
Champagne Sadi Malot is grower-producer (RM – Recolant Manipulant) based in the premier cru village of Villers-Marmery in the north-east of the Montagne de Reims region, just below the famous grand cru villages of Verzy and Verzenay. The area is famous for Pinot Noir but Villers-Marmery is an island of Chardonnay, the result of an unusual vein of limestone bedrock that would be more at home in the Cote des Blancs.
It is a family affair, now entering its fifth generation, founded initially by Socrate Malot in 1883, and renamed Sadi Malot in 1920 in honour of his younger brother who died in the trenches of WW1. It is now in the youthful hands of Socrate’s great-great granddaughter Cindy, and her partner Florian Villiere, who took the reins from Cindy’s father Franck in 2016.
