Pieve Santa Restituta
Nestled in the beautiful Tavernelle region of Montalcino, Tuscany, Pieve Santa Restituta showcases the Gaja family’s commitment to exceptional Sangiovese wines. The Gaja family acquired this estate in 1994, marking their first venture beyond Barbaresco and Barolo. With 27 hectares of established vineyards, Pieve Santa Restituta has a rich winemaking history that dates back to the 12th century.
The estate features an ancient church, or “Pieve,” built in 462 AD. Historic records reveal that monks once referred to the vineyards of Rennina and Sugarille as prime sites for wine production. This consecrated church remains one of only three in Italy dedicated to Saint Restituta.
The first wine under the Pieve Santa Restituta label emerged in 1974. However, the Gaja family truly highlighted the estate’s potential with their first vintage in 1995. Today, they produce three outstanding wines: a Brunello di Montalcino blended from multiple vineyards, along with two single-site expressions, Rennina and Sugarille.
Experience the elegance and heritage of Pieve Santa Restituta. This estate blends tradition and innovation in every bottle. It invites both seasoned wine lovers and newcomers to explore the flavors that celebrate the heart of Montalcino.
