Croix Canon by Chateau Canon

Croix Canon is the second wine of the highly regarded Château Canon. The grapes for this wine are specificallly from a 11 hectare site, formerly Château Matras Grand Cru Classé and sandwiched between Château Canon and Château Angelus. Chanel’s investment plan of the Château Canon acquired this new site in 2011, a bordering estate on the foothills of the Saint-Emilion plateau, made up of alluvium and erosion of the limestone plateau.

It benefits from a unique vinification site, La Chapelle de Mazerat, a former 12th-century chapel is home to this second wine, produced with all the expertise of the 1er Grand Cru Classé, and which has its own facilities, vat-house and cellars for vinification and ageing. The plots are planted 70% to Merlot and 30% to Cabinet Franc, and the average age of the vines is 35 years. No berry from the Canon terroir was downgraded to enter the composition of Croix Canon.
