Mansalto Chianti DOCG La commenda 2020

$35.00

The Mansalto estate wraps around 2000 hectares of privately owned wild bush land in Tuscany, virtually divided in half between the provinces of Siena to the West and Arezzo to the East. The property spreads over the territory of three communes: Bucine, Monte San Savino and Rapolano Terme at an average 600 meters above sea level altitude.

Despite being outside of the most famous Chianti Classico area, the estate is only 10 kilometres away from the South-East corner of the DOCG boundaries, sharing some climatic and geologic similarities.

Origin: Estate vineyards in the municipality of Bucine and Monte San Savino (AR) on the border between Chianti and Chianti Classico areas.

Grapes: Sangiovese 90%, Cabernet Sauvignon 5% and Merlot 5%.

Vineyards: Medium mixture tending to sandy and rich in marl skeleton. 5000 vines/ha trained on spurred cordon.

Altitude: 470-600 m

Soils: Sandy schist. In some area, degraded shale Galestro (marl).

Exposition: Hill tops. Surrounded by woods. Exposition SW/NW.

Vinification: Hand-picked at perfect ripeness. Varieties are fermented separately into thermoregulated stainless steel tanks with a maceration period of 15-20 days. Once pressed and racked, they are blended and aged in stainless steel tanks until being bottled on site.
