Künstler Hochheim Kirchenstück GG Riesling trocken 2021

$178.00

Künstler owns 2.4 hectares of the historic Kirchenstück vineyard in Hochheim, planted in 1969 and first mentioned in 1271 as Kirchanger (“parcel near a church”). This Grosse Lage site faces south and is sheltered by the village from cold northern winds, producing Rieslings of remarkable richness and balance. The soils vary across the vineyard—heavy limestone in some parts, loamy loess and light sand in others—contributing to both structure and finesse.

Hand-harvested grapes are destemmed, gently pressed, and fermented one-third in stainless steel and two-thirds in large old oak casks. After fermentation, the wine rests on fine lees in oak, adding texture and depth. The result is a powerful, layered Riesling that perfectly captures the site’s mineral intensity and warmth.

“A dark and mysterious wine with a very warm and generous heart! Stunning concentration and richness… ploughs straight across your palate like a steam roller. The finish is at once creamy and grounded with a treasure trove of minerality.” – 98 Points, James Suckling
