Henri & Gilles Buisson Meursault Vignes de Marguerite Blanc 2021

$268.00

On marrying into the Buisson clan Franck and Frederick’s grandmother Marguerite also brought into the family some Meursault vines, and this is the grandsons’ vinous homage.

It’s a blend of two sites – Chevalieres and Les Luchets – that neighbour each other in the cool north of Meursault at an altitude of 280m, abutting the border of Auxey-Duresses. This is the cold part of Meursault and the frost took a terrible toll – Meursault incurred the heaviest frost losses in the Buisson vineyard portfolio (about 80%), due to its early budding.

According to Franck “the line is thicker here,” meaning there is more flesh to the acid line, and a great deal of intensity and concentration. But this is not rich, nutty Meursault by any stretch.

“In bottle, from Luchets and Chevalières. Pale lemon colour, with little bouquet. The palate is interesting because it combines the most flesh of white fruit of any wine in the cellar, with the light citrus touch. Quite rugged at the back with an almost tannic grip, perhaps a question of the recent bottling. Drink from 2025-2029.” – 90 Points, Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy)
