Gaja Alteni di Brassica Sauvignon Blanc 2024
$426.00
The Gaja family were the first to plant Sauvignon Blanc in Piedmont, in 1983, and Alteni di Brassica remains the benchmark for the variety in Italy. Sourced from vineyards in the heart of Barbaresco and across Serralunga d’Alba and Trezzo, fermented and aged in oak for 12 to 18 months depending on the vintage.
The name tells its own story. Alteni are the low white stone walls that once lined Piedmont’s vineyards; Brassica the yellow wildflowers that bloom between the rows each spring. Together, a small and beautiful piece of the landscape.
Concentrated and expressive on the nose, with sugared almonds, caramelised orange, pear, sage and boxwood. The palate is rich and enveloping, with a savory, gently sweet acidity and a long, mineral finish.
