Francois Lumpp Givry Rouge 1er Cru Crausot 2023

A refined and mineral-driven Premier Cru from François Lumpp, Crausot sits at the southern tip of the Givry appellation, where highly calcareous soils produce wines of finesse and precision. The domaine farms just under one hectare here, with parcels facing south on stony limestone and east on lighter, sandy limestone soils.

Often described as the more elegant and “feminine” expression among Lumpp’s reds, Crausot is defined by purity and mineral lift rather than weight. The fruit is fully destemmed and fermented in tank, then aged for one year in French oak (around 70% new) followed by several months resting in tank before bottling.

The 2023 shows bright red cherry, wild strawberry and subtle spice, supported by fine tannins and a focused, mineral finish. Structured yet graceful, it’s a Premier Cru Burgundy that will reward both patience and careful cellaring.
