Eleni & Edouard Vocoret Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre 2023

“The only 1er Cru that Eleni & Edouard Vocoret blend from multiple sites, this cuvée combines two parcels in Pieds d’Aloup with a tiny 0.14-hectare plot in Chapelot, too small to bottle on its own. Together they total 0.55 hectares. The Pieds d’Aloup vines, planted in 1962, are now over 60 years old and rooted in grey-blue marl, while the Chapelot section grows on softer limestone soils. With a south-west exposition, these parcels produce a wine of both refinement and power.

Wild fermentation in steel and 12 months of élevage in seasoned barriques (6–30 years old) give depth and texture without losing the crystalline minerality that defines the site. This is one of the most elegant and age-worthy wines in the Vocoret range, with energy, tension, and the capacity to improve for a decade or more.
