Eleni & Edouard Vocoret Chablis 1er Cru Les Forets 2023

“The 1er Cru Les Forêt, part of the Montmains hill, has long been a name of prestige – thanks in no small part to iconic bottlings from Dauvissat. Vocoret farms three small plots here, totalling 0.91 hectares, planted in 1971 and 1980, giving vines with an average age of around 50 years. With a southeast exposition and classic Kimmeridgian soils, this site produces wines that Edouard Vocoret characterises as “straighter and more austere,” compared to neighbouring Butteaux.

Wild-fermented in steel and matured for 12 months in seasoned barriques, the Les Forêt balances power and restraint, with citrus and pear fruit lifted by a strong mineral edge. Structured yet elegant, it has the energy to evolve beautifully with a few years of cellaring.
