Brash Higgins Riesling/Semillon 2022

A field blend with a story—and a serious sense of place. This 2022 Riesling/Semillon comes from a high, sandy site in the far eastern foothills of Blewitt Springs, where a German farmer planted these vines back in 1975. The two varieties—70% Riesling and 30% Semillon—grow side by side and were hand-picked together, then co-fermented in a way that brings harmony and edge.

The fruit spent a couple of days on skins before being basket pressed and wild fermented in a mix of old French barriques and one lone steel barrel. No racking, no fuss—just 12 months of quiet evolution. The result is a textured white that walks the line between bright and serious, salty and fleshy.

Riesling brings the green lift—lime zest, finger lime, rooibos, and electric acidity—while Semillon rounds it out with lemon curd, straw, and a touch of coastal breeze. There’s a subtle savouriness from the skin contact, and the breadth from barrel fermentation adds grip without weight.
