Brash Higgins CINS Cinsault 2022

Cinsault might be a relative newcomer to McLaren Vale, but in the hands of Brash Higgins, it feels completely at home. Sourced from 25-year-old vines grafted to Cinsault in the red sands of Lennon Vineyard, this is a red that’s light on its feet but packed with detail.

The 2022 was fermented wild with 20% whole bunches for spice and lift, before being basket pressed and matured in seasoned French oak for 10 months. It’s fragrant and expressive, with aromas of cherry starburst, blood orange, ginger, and white pepper.

On the palate, it’s all about vibrancy—redcurrant and cranberry fruit glide across a bright acid line, while fine, sandy tannins provide just enough grip. It’s the kind of red that sings with a light chill and a plate of grilled lamb or roasted eggplant.
