The lieu dit of Les Houilleres sits on the border with the Puligny Montrachet AOP and just 150 meters from the Grand Cru of Batard Montrachet. 0.36 hectares of beautiful old vine Chardonnay, average age of 60 years old. Their section is the only one planted East to West. They use horses specifically for this vineyard for plowing, along with allowing grass to grow in the rows to encourage competition.

Hand picked, whole-bunch pressed to tank. Left to settle overnight. Racked off gross lees to barrel, of which 20% is new. Wild fermented followed by malolactic. Left on fine lees for 12 months, battonage happens but frequency dependant on vintage. Moved to tank for another 4 months before bottling.
