RAISON D’ETRE – An inspired couple who are passionate about making soulful wines accessible to everyone. When you meet Brendan and Laura it’s evident straight away that they are not only talented winemakers but smart cookies to boot.

What do you do when you can’t justify premiums on ‘cool fruit’ when you want your wines to be enjoyed and accessible to the youthful winos of Australia? Get creative.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX – Unico Zelo have found some fantastic terrior outside the norm. Organic Fiano and 70 year Old Muscat d’Alessandria vines from the Riverland? I know, it took me a second to digest but its super smart. They have paid way over the odds (still value vs Hills, Barossa etc.) to the growers of these vineyards to gain access to some completely uncharted Australian ‘terroir’.

MINIMAL NOT LAX – That’s not to say they don’t love the Hills. Their SB, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo are all sourced from growers in the region and are already garnishing some superb reviews. They apply strict minimal intervention techniques, 100% wild ferment, without the addition of enzymes, nutrients or sugar.
