LES VIGNERONS DE SAINT-POURÇAIN
Producer Profile – The Story
RAISON D’ETRE – The New Burgundy
Francaboutwine notes :
You’d be forgiven if you couldn’t put your finger on the map of France and point out Saint Pourçain. It sits south of Loire and west of Macon. The vineyards sit on the banks of the river Allier, a main tributary to the Loire but the landscape and varieties are matched with Burgundy. It’s actually one of France’s oldest regions and can claim its lineage back to Roman times. The vineyards sit at the same latitude as Macon and share the same desired southeast facing exposition.
