Francois and Isabelle Lumpp own this frankly amazing 9 hectare domaine in Givry and for the those in the know it’s so much more than it AOC title. So often the collector and sommelier dismiss the wines of Givry vs their royal counterparts in Cote d’Or. These are superstar wines that are simply ridiculous value for high quality red Burgundy.
“This also evidences notes of dark cherry with more obvious floral scents that include violets and rose petal along with hints of spice, earth and sandalwood. Once again there is a really lovely mouth feel to the medium weight flavors that display a fine bead of minerality on the beautifully complex, intense and moderately austere finish. As is often the case, this is the best wine in the range in 2014 and one to absolutely look for” – Burghound
“François Lumpp is the best producer in Givry, equally adept at producing stylish reds and whites. This amazing Pinot comes from a parcel of 1.2 hectares to the west of the village. Half of the vines are very young, but you wouldn’t know it in this sweet, textured, mineral-etched wine that wouldn’t look out of place in Volnay”- 94 points – Tim Aktin (2014 vintage)
“Here the nose is quite similar if perhaps not quite as elegant with good complexity to the plum, earth and dark currant aromas. There is a seductive mouth
feel to the rich, vibrant and intense flavors thanks to the refined tannins that impart a dusty and moderately firm palate impression to the lingering and
dusty finish. Excellent quality for such young vines and this is recommended” Outstanding – Sweet Spot – Burghound (2013 vintage)
