Cascina delle Monache is one of the most exciting contemporary producers in Gavi. Project of young vigneron Tiziano, the indigenous grape Cortese has been grown at the Arecco family farm since 1978. They own around 4 hectares of vines, of which they craft two stunning Gavi del Commune di Gavi (including an old vine bottling) and a delicious Dolcetto in vin de soif style.

The farm, nestled in the heart of the appellation in the little town of Nebbioli, sits on soils which share the same geological origin with the Langhe: Cessola (Langhian) marls and Serravallian sands, called ’terre blanche’ (white soils) locally: a mix of shallow limestone and sand.

Sustainable viticulture and sensible winemaking are at the heart of the project, projecting Cascina delle Monache into the exciting panorama of contemporary Italian white wine.
