WILDEBERG ‘TERRIORS’ CHENIN BLANC 2023
Bottle Shot
A single site Chenin Blanc from Paarl from old bush vines planted in 1977 ( now almost 50 years old) grown on the Smuts Block which is old, dry-grown bush vines rooted in the rocky, granite seam outcrops. The best spots in Paarl (of which this is typical of such terrior) for Chenin Blanc are the pockets of decomposed Granite (formed from then outcrop of Paarl Mountain) over and around the more widely found Sandstone.
Hand-harvested bush vine Chenin Blanc, wild fermented in seasoned barrel and left for aging for 12 months before bottling.
“I like the honey, flint and wild herb undertones to the stone fruit and green mango aromas. Hints of licorice too. It’s full-bodied, very bright and lively, with a lingering creamy and spicy finish. Sustainable. Drink now.” – 92 pts – Claire Nesbitt – James Suckling
