‘LA COMMENDA’ CHIANTI DOCG 2022

‘La Commenda’ is a toponym inside the Mansalto estate. 100% ‘fruit tannins’, no oak used during fermentation or elevage. 90% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Fruit from 100% estate owned vineyards in the municipalities of Bucine and Monte San Savino (Arezzo). Fermentation happens in a mix of temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and concrete vessels. Long elevage in concrete vessels for 18 months before bottling.

In 2022 the wine joined the classification ‘Chianti Superiore’ which prescribes lower yields (max 7.5 t/ha) and longer elevage (min 9 months from Jan 1st following the harvest year).

Practically, the ‘Chianti Superiore’ classification uses the same stricter parameters than Chianti Classico nowadays.
