Maison Rigal

Chateau de Chambert – Home of Maison Rigal

Maison Rigal was originally founded in Cahors however they work with a number of growers and partner wineries to offer a wider range of wines and styles from the South West of France. We work with them specifically with a Vin Orange wine.

The grapes are exclusively sourced from the Gascony region and the wine is made by a partner winery called Domaine Hauret who both own vines and specialise in the wines of Gascony. The region is split into three subregions – Haut Armagnac, Tenareze and Bas Armagnac. Bas Armagnac, where the grapes for this wine are picked from is rich in limestone, topped with a top soil of free draining sand and silt (very little water retention). Coupled with a maritime climate due to the proximity to the Atlantic. 70% of production from this area from white grapes.

Julien Touboul, head winemaker of Rigal oversees the winemaking of this specific wine due to the sensitive and technical nature of this fermentation style. The wine itself is classified as a Vin de France due to the fact there is no AOP law in Gascony governing the production of Orange wine.
