ROUGE CRU ELLES 2018
Bottle Shot

What does Cru Elles mean?…Play on words Ludovic describes. In French when the combined it means Cruel, separate Elles means lady in plural, the cruel ladies. Sources the grapes for this wine from local growers, but all small parcels of an average age of 40 years old.  In 2018 it was very wet alongside frosts, a challenging year. Alot of Grenache was lost in the Gard and as such he amended the cepage for this year. 70% Cinsault, 30% Grenache. No de-stemming; grapes are lightly crushed. Aged in fiberglass and stainless steel tanks for 6 months until Spring bottling (April).

ROUGE CLOS SERRE-CABANIS
Bottle Shot

This is a Clos of 2 hectares, planted 50/50 Mourvedre & Grenache. It’s historically an old parcel, a clos sourrounded by woods. The name Cabanis is a fairly common family name in the Languedoc so Ludovic assumes it’s orgins come from the original owners. In 2016 it was 100% destemmed however Ludovic made it clear that from 2017 all his wines will move to wholebunch, which is apparent in the Gard Rouge Cru Elles above. Aged 12 months in 228ltr barrique (seasoned) and 600 ltr fut which are 2 years old.
