Domaine Ledogar

Xavier, Mathieu & Benoit Ledogar

Domaine Ledogar is situated in Corbieres, part of the Languedoc region in south west France. More specifically, it is in Boutenac, one of the ten ‘Cru’ villages of Corbieres, which gained its own AOP status in 2005.

Xavier Ledogar took over full management of the Domaine (formerly known as Domaine Grand Lauze) in 1997 and began slowly converting the estate to Organic, achieving certification in 2016. From the 2021 vintage all wines will be certified Biodynamic by Biodyvin. He works alongside his brothers Mathieu and Benoit, highlighting the local varieties of Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Maccabeu & Marselan. It’s an exciting range of wines, using bio approach alongside modern techniques.

The brothers are very keen on biodynamics, stressing the importance of soil health. They do use sulphur at bottling but very low dosages plus the majority of the red cuvees see little or no oak at all, focusing on expressing the soil and keeping the wines ‘fresh and alive’ balancing the warmer climate they are grown in.
