CROIX CANON BY CHATEAU CANON 2018
Bottle shot

Second wine of the highly regarded Château Canon. The grapes for this wine are specifically from a 11 hectare site, formerly Château Matras Grand Cru Classé and sandwiched between Château Canon and Château Angelus, made up of alluvium and erosion of the limestone plateau. No berry from the Canon terroir was downgraded to enter the composition of Croix Canon – it’s it’s own terrior.

Vinified using the same techniques as the 1st wine however the wine is made at La Chapelle de Mazerat, a 12th century building constructed at the request of Alienor d’Aquitaine right in the heart of these vineyards, renovated in 2015.

65% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc. Separate vinification by parcel in conical shaped stainless steel vats. 18 months aging in barrel, 38% new.

“A creamy and pretty red with lots of dried flowers and spices with fresh fruit. Minerals, too. Medium to full-bodied. Chalky” – 92-93 Points – James Suckling
