Ca Montini

Riccardo Cotarella

Planted in 1990 the Terre di Valfredda vineyard is naturally protected from the elements by the surrounding Dolomites. This highly- prized vineyard is made up of four small plots of clay and limestone soil that form a cone shape, the locals in the area call Valfredda or “cold valley.”

As one of Italy’s top winemakers, Riccardo Cotarella’s experience with Pinot Grigio comes from twelve years of study and experimentation conducted in vineyards as well as in the cellar at the University of Viterbo where he is Professor of Oenology and Viticulture.

During this time Cotarella has received many offers of collaboration to produce Pinot Grigio with numerous Italian wineries, but in the end elected to work with Ca’ Montini on his first Trentino effort.
